10.23.08 Determined previously interviewed potential candidate will be invited for a visit in November or December to determine if there is proper chemistry and common vision. Screened other resumes and clarified future networking channels.

Phone interviewed two potential candidates and screened other resumes. 

09.18.08  Met with Marilyn Lynch, Director of PCC School Age Child Care, to understand her needs and vision for the Children and Families Pastor (CFP).  Discussed newly proposed team/reporting structure of CFP. Screen resumes and determined future phone interviews.

08.27.08 Phone interviewed and screened resumes/applications of potential candidates.

08.13.08 Search Team met to clarify screening, interview and selection process. Began processing through initial candidate inquiries.

07.23.08 Team finalized profile, prospectus, determined promotion channels and application process. Job profile will be posted to public as of Aug. 1.

07.09.08 Search team met to clarify the job profile draft. The intent is to have other stakeholders review prior to our next meeting on

06.11.08 Search Team met to discuss scope of role within the current and future PCC organizational structure, review another churches research findings regarding family spirituality and culture, and clarified primary responsibilities of desired position in order to move toward job profile draft.

06.04.08 First meeting of C&F Pastoral Search Team. Nine members include: Barb Bartoshuk, Brian Rhen, Carol Phelan, Chip Johnson, Curtis Elia, Jaymie DuBois, Meg Roundy, Scott Armienti, Sue Dawley. Focus involved introductions, identifying individual strengths and weaknesses, establishing team expectations and values, clarifying search process.

05.13.08 Brian, Meg and Carol clarified details for Jeff’s Celebration on June 8, 3:30-5:30pm. New staffing/team structure for summer was approved by John Seybert, Director of Operations. No interim will be hired for the summer. This is based on Jeff Smith’s ongoing presence through his unpaid staff role on Sundays by giving the Children’s Message. Pastoral issues for Children & Young Families will be delegated to church staff with oversight provided by Brian Rhen. Potential search team members will be contacted this week, with the hope of gathering in early June. Brian and Meg will be contacting other churches who have recently searched for similar positions to gain insight into structure, search process and candidates.

05.05.08 Brian Rhen, Pastor of People Development, Carol Phelan, Children/Families Council Rep, and Meg Roundy, Children/Families Director, meet to determine Jeff’s exit celebration, short term needs, interim possibilities and potential search team members.

04.28.08 Pastor Jeff Smith resigns based on personal health issues, impeding twins and a call to ministry at their family-owned King’s Swim Academy. Last day will be May 31, 2008, however he will stay in the area and continue to attend PCC!
